We are a small department of 17 officers. We have a major highway (I65) cutting right through the middle of our jurisdiction. We are also surrounded by woods to our north, east and west. There have been many times when we get in a pursuit and it ends in the woods where we easily lose sight of the suspect. The few times a neighboring department had a drone, we were successful in capturing the suspect. This included a pursuit of a murder suspect who fled into the woods and a drone was used to get his location and provide information to officers approaching the suspect. Also with the interstate, there are unfortunately major vehicle accidents that we could use the drone for accident photographs and reconstruction.
