“The City of West Haven consist of three Fire Districts that work as one on an operational level. The city is 10 sq. miles located on Long Island Sound with a population of 55,000. Running through the city of West Haven are major transportation arteries. These include the stretch of Interstate-95 between New York and Boston runs through West Haven has been identified as one of busiest sections of this road in the state with an average of 200,000 vehicles daily. Rail lines serving Metro North and Amtrak run through the city, carrying thousands of commuters daily between New Haven, New York and Boston.” said Chief James O’Brien, West Haven Fire Department.
Fire Department , submitted a proposal to the National Public Safety Drone Donation Program (NPS-DDP) for a drone. Our partners at PropelUAS, a division of Evans Consulting, generously donated a new Autel EVOII drone to fulfill this request. PropelUAS leverages 20+ years of expertise in aviation, drones, and human-centered change to guide organizations through a continually evolving regulatory and technological landscape. PropelUAS has teamed up with NPS-DDP to offer grant writing assistance to departments in need. The drone will be donated in person to the West Haven Fire Department. They have a Licensed FAA Part107 drone pilot on staff to fly the drone. This technology will help save lives and streamline deployment and provide fast real-time situational awareness for the department. West Haven and NPS-DDP welcome all media coverage, our goal is to help educate the public and local municipalities about the importance of UAV technology in the hands of public safety officials and seek ongoing support from community and corporate donors.
